May 2026 Newsletter Highlights
Dear Kafunta Friends!
It’s May already and our 2026 season is already rocking. Apologies for the delay in sending out our first newsletter, we’re not entirely sure how time has gone by so quickly!
Everyone is back on deck at the main lodge, and the construction of the bush camps is progressing nicely, for opening on the 25th of May.
Ron, Luke and Anke Cowan are also on site, making Kafunta the true family home again.
The team has grown a bit as well with Rona now Lodge Manager, assisted by Mucha, a great addition to the crew.
You will see some great staff photos in our full newsletter, as we had a visit from a photographer who spend a few days with our team specifically. It’s great to focus on the people who are the backbone of the company.
Wildlife at its best
The park is super green thanks to late rains, and it constitutes a beautiful background for wildlife photos.
Sightings have been fabulous already. You can see that new lion cubs are around. The cutest things!
And lots more you can discover in our full newsletter.
A GIFT FROM TRAVEL AFRICA MAGAZINE
Don’t miss out on this double gift from Travel Africa Magazine. They are giving you virtual access to their biggest issue ever, focused on photography, and if you subscribe now, you will also receive a 10% discount! For this, you must open our newsletter and use the code provided.
And there is so much more to read: news about the recent floods in Mfuwe, community and conservation updates as well as the recent renovations we did during the rains.
A late, but interesting newsletter to read!
The next one will come out early June.
Cheers,
Izzy and the Kafunta Safaris team
