June 2026 Newsletter Highlights
Dear Kafunta Friends!
The 2026 safari season is well underway in South Luangwa, and things are getting busier by the minute.
From the reopening of Three Rivers Camp and Island Bush Camp, to new faces joining the team and familiar ones returning to the valley, there’s been no shortage of stories so far this season.
At Three Rivers Camp, a brand-new swimming pool has quickly become a favourite stop between game drives, while Island Bush Camp continues to charm guests with its raw simplicity and unforgettable sunrise views over the Luangwa River.
We are also delighted to officially announce that Luke Cowan, and his childhood friend Byron Miles have taken over the management of Wildlife Camp. A full circle for both families, as Anke, Ron, and Herman built the camp together over three decades ago! A beautiful story to read.
NEW AND OLD FACES
We’re proud to introduce Enerty Chibesa, our first female safari guide, whose journey from Mfuwe to the guiding team is an inspiring milestone for the valley.
And then we enjoyed the quick visit of Mario Voss and Wilson Malambo, both former employees of Kafunta.
Wildlife at its best
And as always, the bush has delivered its own highlights — including recent sightings of wild dogs and plenty of memorable moments captured by our guides and guests.
There’s a lot more happening behind the scenes, so, make sure to read the full mailer.
The next one will come out in July.
Cheers,
Izzy and the Kafunta Safaris team
