Dear Kafunta Friends!
It’s mid-season now in South Luangwa, and the peak of our “winter” which means cooler days and nights with nature drying off slowly.
Every month, I sit down with a folder full of photos, a long list of stories, and the impossible task of deciding what to include in the newsletter.
At Three Rivers Camp, we’ve had loads of elephants visiting the camp, to the great enjoyment of our guests there.
BEHIND THE Lens
These past weeks we’ve received the visit of a few professional wildlife photographers who shared some amazing images with us.
The first one was Diana Andersen, from Australia. Diana only stayed one night at Kafunta and one night at Three Rivers; this was a scouting trip to plan a future photographic workshop. Check out the full newsletter to see more of her photos.
The next photographers who joined us were Javier Sanchez and his 17-year-old son Miguel Sanchez. Both acclaimed photographers. They stayed with us for 6 nights, at Sunset House as well as the bush camps. And their photos are so good. We’ll be featuring them in many of our upcoming newsletters.
In this one, we’re putting some of their photos side by side – as they were on the same sightings, it’s fun to see the difference in style and angle. But open the full newsletter to see more of these.

We thought we’d take you behind the scenes, in the office of our “Front of House” Ladies, to see what they’re up to when not spending time with guests. More on the full newsletter.
News of the Sunset House
It’s hard to imagine that it’s been almost three years since we opened The Sunset House, our exclusive private safari house. The Sanchez family stayed there in June, and left us with some great photos.
And then we also talk about our biggest hit on social media so far this year. A reel that started with a simple question: What sound does a lion make? Have a look!
