Colours of October

Newsletter

Dear Kafunta Friend!

Welcome back!

October has flownn by, and what a month it’s been! This year’s Independence Day was a big one for Zambia! We had a fantastic time celebrating Zambia’s 60th Anniversary, and we did so in full colour!

Our teams at Kafunta, Three Rivers and Island put on their vibrant Zambian-coloured tees, with Anke and Ron leading the festivities throughout the day.

There was cake, singing, dancing, and everyone—including our guests—truly embraced the joy of the moment. Here are some random photos of our fun day!

October's Star Sightings

Safaris continued to be spectacular, and the October gold medal goes to Lucy, the famous leopard often found by the park’s main gate, who recently introduced her new cubs. Luckily for us, our guests Sandie & Chris from Travel Africa Your Way (Australia) had front-row seats to capture some images of these cuties. For those who visited us years ago, Lucy is Alice’s daughter—yes, that Alice who spoiled us with so many wonderful sightings! It’s heartwarming to know that a new generation of leopards will keep our visitors thrilled.

In this newsletter, we also talk about the naughty visitors at Island Bush Camp (elephant crossing our dining room) and at Kafunta River Lodge (lions decided our lounge cushions were not to their taste). Open our newsletter to see all the news and photos.

A Safari through art

After our lively wildlife friends, we welcomed a different kind of visitor to our remote camps: artists!  Two renowned painters immersed themselves in the Luangwa landscape, brushes in hand!
