Island Bush Camp is open for the season. After 3 weeks of hard work we can confirm the team has done a great job… it looks stunning!
This year we have made some changes to the design, the bathroom have been lifted of the ground to the same level as the rooms. This makes it comfortable and the open design offers great views over the river, even from the bathroom. The facilities included a bucket shower, a safari experience that has been used in Africa since time immemorial. The room attendant fill the canvas “bucket” with water and raise it up on a pulley system ready for your use. A hot shower will be prepared for you after the morning and afternoon safaris.
The open design offers great views from the rooms and you will awake to the first light overlooking the wild Luangwa River.
The campfire is lit every night, and it is a great place to sit and watch the sun set over the Muchinga escarpment, listen to the sounds of the bush as the night falls and share some of the stories of the day. Your meals are cooked over the wooden stove in the camp kitchen and you experience dinner under the impressive African star lit sky.
As the night sets you hear the call of the hyena, lions roaring and hippos “talking” to each other into the early morning hours when the sun rises again over the Chendeni hills while you are ready for new adventures. Island Bush Camp is a magical place were you feel at one with nature and discover the small details about the bush that one does miss while on the game drives.
